Press Release · REHACARE 2026
Back to where it all began.
Genny Zero returns to REHACARE with the Compasso d'Oro ADI 2026 and presents the new XR Kit. A new chapter in its evolution.
Düsseldorf · 23 September 2026
For Genny Zero, REHACARE is not a trade fair like any other.
It is the place where, on 14 September 2022, the project was presented to the international public for the first time.
Düsseldorf, 23 September 2026. Four years on, Genny Factory SA returns to Düsseldorf with a journey marked by research, technological evolution and important recognition in the world of design.
From 23 to 26 September 2026, Hall 6 – Stand 6G04, Genny presents Genny Zero, the two-wheeled self-balancing medical device created to rethink personal mobility through technology and design, and unveils the new XR Kit, developed to deliver greater grip, control and protection on the most demanding terrain.
From the debut to the Compasso d'Oro
Recognised by design.
From its debut at REHACARE 2022 to today, Genny Zero has continued to evolve while keeping intact the idea it was born from: rethinking the relationship between technology, design and freedom of movement.
A journey that led Genny Zero to selection in the ADI Design Index 2025 and, in 2026, to the Compasso d'Oro ADI, one of the most prestigious international awards dedicated to design.
A particularly significant milestone for a medical device and for a vision that sees design not as a mere aesthetic element, but as an integral part of the mobility experience and of the relationship between person and device.
Design not as a mere aesthetic element, but as an integral part of the mobility experience.
Born from a real need
From an insight, a new way to move.
Genny's story is tied to that of its founder, Paolo Badano, who after a road accident began looking for a different way to experience his own mobility.
In 2009, the encounter with self-balancing technology opened a new perspective: applying that principle to a device capable of offering a new experience of movement and, at the same time, moving beyond the language traditionally associated with assisted mobility.
From that insight took shape a long journey of research and development that would lead to the birth of Genny. Today, at the heart of Genny Zero is a proprietary self-balancing technology that dynamically maintains balance on the two parallel wheels: movement is controlled by shifting the centre of gravity, while the retractable central steering column manages direction and makes getting on and off easier.
The new XR Kit debuts in Düsseldorf
The return to REHACARE marks a new chapter.
Genny Factory previews the new XR Kit, developed to expand the ways Genny Zero can be used and to deliver more grip, more control and more protection.
The kit introduces wheels with alloy rims and a wider tread, designed to increase the contact patch and track width and to offer a more progressive response on uneven surfaces. Added to these are new protective mudguards and a dedicated software interface on the touch monitor, developed specifically for the XR configuration.
More grip.
More control.
More protection.
Greater footprint
Wheels with alloy rims and a wider tread increase the contact patch and track width.
Progressive response
More progressive behaviour on uneven surfaces, with a dedicated software interface on the touch monitor.
New protection
New protective mudguards to face the most demanding conditions with confidence.
Not an off-road device, but an evolution.
Greater stability and control, when conditions become more demanding. An even more assertive character.
