The fullfillment of a Dream
Roberto Moretti, “seated” for 12
years. He never lost the desire to travel.
The way to Santiago (Camino de Santiago) is
not just a journey: it is "the Journey".
Requires physical strength, soul, listening,
humility. And humility could be also giving
up the arm strength and choose an electric
vehicle that is flexible enough to take along
every path, with stones, fords, climbs and
Steep hills. Free to go. With his body, his
mind, his heart.
Free to fulfill the "Buen camino".
"Patrizia, my wife, really wanted to do that:
undertaking a journey with the spirit of a
pilgrim. And I wanted to be there, my desire
was to be by her side."
These are the first words of Roberto Moretti,
disable for 12 years because of an accident.
In June 2015, he traveled 350 km on the
Camino de Santiago aboard his Genny.
Roberto and Patrizia have always traveled. Even his
limited mobility never obstructed their passion. The
idea of even undertake a journey, however, was
unthinkable even for them. Until they met Genny.
"With a normal wheelchair is very difficult to travel, there
are some destinations or modalities that are virtually
impossible ... I used my wheelchair and I stupidly refused
to think of an electric vehicle for my journeys.
I realized that my arms are essential to preserve my
independence, and all the efforts I make to move the
wheelchair quickly wear out my joints compromising every
movement, especially in the future."
This is the reason that led Roberto to try Genny.
And it was love at first sight.
Thanks to Genny, I gained the proper control
of my mobility. It convinced me to take
peacefully the Camino de Santiago"
350 kilometers, from Leon to Santiago, all
along the path of the“yellow arrows”, a path
usually run by "normal" travellers. A journey
full of charm, but also of difficulty, through
large fields, mule trails, river crossings, long
climbs and steep descents.
The journey of Roberto was a rebirth:
"It was amazing! The happiness was definitely
stronger than the fatigue.
I really enjoyed the feeling of riding, watching
the scenery, feel the stones, through the woods, touch the
streams lightly and even the sea (who seemed impossible years ago).
Now I'm already thinking the next way forward,
maybe in Italy, perhaps along the Via
